Or if you're in the market for a little self indulgence head on in and peruse their beautiful selection for yourself. We spoke with owner Beth about how this wonderful shop came to be and what some of her favourite products are.
Tell us about Florence and Threads, where did it all begin and what was your vision?
Florence and Threads began In December, 2015. At the time I was working as an Occupational Therapist and was constantly thinking about doing something more creative. I’ve always loved interior decorating and visual merchandising. The opportunity to lease the shop popped up and the gorgeous building and location was something I couldn’t refuse. With some help from family members, also involved in small business ownership, I took the leap. My vision was that of a clothing and homewares store with carefully handpicked products of things I love. I envisioned a relaxed, inviting store with products with a hint of difference.
How do you go about curating your wide range of products?
Lots of scrolling the internet and social media as well as visiting other stores for inspiration, chatting to friends and family on what they love to see in a store, contacting brands and suppliers of products I personally already love. The trade fairs twice a year can also be a great way of finding new products and hidden gems.
What are your expert tips for gift giving?
That’s a hard one. I really think that It’s the thought that counts… but always give your gift with the perfect card! (my favourite part of a present).
What are your favourite products currently in store?
1. Beanies have been selling like crazy the last month!
2. Middle child earrings a new label…handmade in Geelong
3. Bon Lux candles- delicious smelling scents with hand illustrated packaging
4. Jolie & Deen jewellery
5. Books, in particular, Natural Harry’s ‘Whole’ cook book.
6. I also love a good card with a gift
What is next for Florence and Threads?
Who knows!! I’m really just enjoying my store now for what it is and hope to continually evolve and keep providing a service and product for all the lovely customers who come through the door.
